I love this shot from this weekends Mindful Photowalk.
We were seeing how the tree looks from a distance compared with right underneath.

The ways in which light can affect the atmosphere of a photograph are dramatic and it's really fun to play around with by positioning ourselves in a range of positions around our subject.
It's also interesting to observe how it feels look at something from different places.
We talked about how being underneath a tree feels cosy, connected, warm and dry. Looking at a tree from a distance is a little more isolating, but still more calming than looking at a building.
After we spent some time learning about the basic principles of Photography together, we went off and did our own thing.
Simply moving slowly, seeing what stands out to us and connecting with the environment through our eyes, and our cameras.
Then we came back together for hot chocolate, to share our images and chat about the experiences we had (alongside many other things!)
Take a look at some of the awesome photos they took below...

What I really love about these events is that everyone responds to their environment in such different ways. All of our photos are so varied because our perceptions and interests are unique to us.
Some people used phones, and some compact cameras and DSLRs - it really is a place for everyone to come together and develop this amazing skill of closely looking at our surroundings, and making art with it.

It's such a privilege to share this joy with the world and we raised over £100 for the people of Palestine - £240 in total - through these Photowalks. Thank you to everyone who attended and we missed those who were ill on the day - we'll see you next time!
The next event will be in the Spring and there's plans for these Mindful Photowalks to go on tour and be held in collaboration with others…
I’m excited to see that many of you have already signed up to the Photowalk Waitlist - if you haven’t yet then what are you waiting for?
